The Gift of Liberating Love

Lake Fellowship member Marnie Karger will lead a program exploring January's theme of The Gift of Liberating Love. We'll look at some definitions of "Liberating Love," ask why we need it, discover how we might act with it, and finally, look into what the "Gift" part might mean. This program will invite discussion, and will also include a short video and slideshow.

Civil Disagreement, with Guest Speaker: Sam Devine

From Sam:

We live in a time of polarization and social isolation that is both of our own making and exerted upon us by forces outside of our control. Social media has exacerbated this in ways we are struggling to reconcile.

Finding common ground requires openness. Agreeing to be honest and open isn't the same as agreeing on a single topic. Changing someone's mind doesn't happen in real time.

Still the Mystery Surrounds Us, with Guest Speaker: Phil Lund

Lake Fellowship warmly welcomes back Phil Lund for a program about December's theme of Mystery.

From Phil:

The notion of knowledge as an island in a sea of mystery is, for naturalist Chet Raymo, the ground of his faith. Unitarian Universalism refers to this particular ground as “the guidance of reason and the results of science.” It is just one of many diverse sources of our faith. Together, let us reflect on how our sources ground us in this sea of mystery that surrounds us.

Mysterious Generosity

November's theme is "The Gift of Generosity," and December's theme is "The Gift of Mystery." As a transition of sorts, the Program Planning Committee has created a program that combines these two themes. For anyone who can make it (in person or on zoom), we will be asking you to write on a piece of paper a brief description of either a moment that someone was very generous with you, or a time when you felt the gift of being generous to someone else.
