There is a lot happening right now with the Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance (MUUSJA), and there are several ways for our congregation to put our values into action this month.

Join members of the Minnesotans for Equal Rights Coalition (MN4ER) for an engaging and informative webinar on the movement to pass an Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the Minnesota Constitution.
As people of faith committed to justice and equity, we play a vital role in ensuring constitutional protections against gender-based discrimination. The Minnesota ERA bill (SF37, HF173) intersects with issues so many of our faith communities are already committed to and engaged in: reproductive justice, trans refuge, disability justice, and anti-racism.

I commented: I remind myself that it was even worse in the past. So despite backlashes and setbacks, humans are becoming more conscious and compassionate.
She replied: But are they? This doubt is part of the despair.

November’s theme is Nurturing Gratitude. So much to be grateful for!
I’m grateful for YOU! For being part of this Fellowship! For coming to programs, celebrations, and meetings. For sharing your passions, skills, and resources. For making this place possible.
Celebrate 25 years of MUUSJA! We’ll celebrate our history and build capacity for the future. The moment we are facing, with its mass of intersecting crises, harm, and uncertainty, requires us to organize, collaborate, be nimble, brave, and responsive.
The first four sessions for our Tuesday meditation group were well-attended and meaningful. Only one more session remains, and newcomers are welcome! We’ll continue exploring simple meditation practices in a calm, supportive space. If you’ve already signed up, there’s no need to register again. If you’d like to join us on Tuesday (Nov. 18), please register so we know how many to expect.

Our program theme for October is Cultivating Compassion. How do we as a congregation cultivate compassion amongst ourselves? How do we become what we want to see in the world? To be the light?
A new 5-week meditation group will meet Tuesday evenings at Lake Fellowship beginning October 21 (6:30–8:00 p.m.). Each week offers a quiet space to pause, reconnect, and explore a different meditation technique through guided practice, silence, and gentle reflection. Led by Matthew Tift, a Kripalu Yoga teacher with training in mindfulness and meditation, the group welcomes everyone. No experience or beliefs required. The group is free, but please register ahead of time so we know how many to expect.
