Magnificient Minnetonka: a place and its people

Our speaker today is Paul Maravelas. Paul will share the colorful history of this area we call home, pulling from his extensive research and studies of the Lake Minnetonka area.

Paul Maravelas grew up in Tonka Bay and works as a museum curator. He is currently completing a book on the history of Big Island for the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society.

Who Are We? A fun morning all about answers.

As a congregation, we at Lake Fellowship are a fairly tight-knit group, but how well do we really know one another? What secret talents and colorful pasts lie behind our lovely singing voices? WWDD (What Will Dan Do?) - Melanoma: A Personal Journey

LFUU member Dan Larson was diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer this past September.  He will present  a program on his journey to date including some historical background, challenges / ups and downs, and impact to lifestyle.  The second and larger part of the program will be around the preventative treatment options with pros and cons of each and the philosophical questions that was part of the decision process.  Dan will invite the audience to participate in discussing other philosophical qu

Complexity: why the sciences of chaos and complexity matter

The son of an astrophysicist and a teacher, UU Minister David Schwartz was taught from an early age that life means asking questions and always discovering, discussing, and reevaluating -- living in the world with humility and awe. His life-long spiritual journey began in the religious education programs at Follen UU Church of Lexington, Massachusetts, and it continued in religious studies at Tufts University in Boston and a Master of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School. He and his wife Teri -- also a UU minister -- live in Minneapolis with their two small children.
