Description

Join Lake Fellowship member Marnie Karger for a program that explores this month's theme: The Practice of Deep Listening. For this program, Marnie will share some lessons learned about deep listening from her reading of two novellas by Becky Chambers, called the "Monk and Robot" series.

The books offer a cozy dialogue of sorts between a restless tea monk named Dex and a self-aware robot named Mosscap. Set in a hopeful and egalitarian "solar punk" world setting, A Psalm for the Wild-Built and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy explore themes of purpose, worth, and what it means to be human. The characters' actions and the basic plot of the stories are centered firmly around listening to others and listening to oneself.
