The Mystery of Music

December's theme is Mystery. Lead by LFUU member and musicologist, Dr. Matthew Tift, today's program explores the mystery of music. How do we tell the "good" music from the "bad"? How is it that some music seems to penetrate the soul, while other music makes us want to run away? Is music a kind of language awating interpretation, or is it simply the case that music is "ineffable" (indescribable), and that any attempt to uncover hidden meaning is doomed to failure?
