Description

Today, Lake Fellowship is proud to present newly minted Lake Fellowship member, Dr. Jen Senchea to present a program to tie in with this month's theme of Commitment.

Dr. Gottman posits that relational health depends almost entirely on positive and negative communication acts. He argues there are four forms of communication that are particularly damaging. Gottman’s multi-method research program is extensive and spans 30 years. In his book What predicts divorce he argues convincingly that divorce can be predicted 94% of the time by simply examining the presence of these four destructive speech acts. He now directs the Gottman Institute which has applied his original research on romantic couples to multiple family relationships.

Dr. Jen Senchea is a professor of Communication Studies at Saint Cloud State University. Her research program focuses on communication in close relationships. She teaches courses on communication theory, communication research methods, and sexual communication. She is also married to Bru which requires special communication skill. :)

Today's meeting is via Zoom, and co-hosted by Lake Fellowship members Kristin Fulkerson and Terry McGlynn. You can join the group starting at 10:15 a.m. and the program will begin at 10:30. To join, please check your email for the Zoom link, or request a link by sending an email to info@lakefellowship.org. We'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
