Description

Lake Fellowship member Marnie Karger will lead a program exploring November's theme of The Gift of Generosity. To do so, she will narrate an illustrated (slideshow) essay by Robin Wall Kimmerer, titled "The Serviceberry: An Economy of Abundance," and then invite discussion afterward.

Sometimes a piece of writing comes along that seems so perfect for a program, it would be a shame to try to merely quote from or summarize it. Since we aren't likely to pull Kimmerer herself here on short notice (and small budget), Marnie will do her best to bring her essay to life in this program.

Robin Wall Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is the author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants, and many others. She's also the recipient of numerous awards for her teaching, advocacy, and writing.

REMEMBER: Sunday, November 5th marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, meaning we "fall back" and get an extra hour of shut-eye.
