Lake Fellowship alum Leah Tift has returned to present this program related to November's theme of "Change."
This program aims to provide a new perspective on zoos, along with other holdovers of colonialism, so that audiences can be more critical and thoughtful when visiting zoos and engaging with the world in general. It will examine the colonial legacy of zoos and the ways in which that legacy is still present in modern exhibits, along with how that relates to our experiences and expectations. This presentation aims to supply audiences with the tools and information necessary to be more critically aware of the systems in place around them, using zoos as an example.
Leah is a first year sophomore at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. One of Leah's environmental studies classes has already taught her a lot and changed the way she views the world, inspiring this program.
