Description

In recent years, the story of the first Thanksgiving we all heard as children has come to be viewed as a myth, hiding the dark truth about the interaction of Indigenous people and early European settlers in America. In this program, we will look at the facts of what happened, as best as we can tell, learn about Native American perspectives on the holiday and history, and discuss the current opposing views of Thanksgiving as a day of gratitude and as a day of mourning. This program will be led by Lake Fellowship member and archivist Sharon Dana, and is part of an ongoing series about creating a meaningful Land Acknowledgment for Lake Fellowship.
