BYOT: Building Your Own Theology

We invite you (and those you know) to join us this Sunday for another discussion.

Our topic to consider and discuss this week will be UU ideals. What do we as UUs and/or as a fellowship hold up as sacred? Where do we source our moral guidance? Are we too cozy and comfortable or can we be more inspired somehow?

We'll share our thoughts, and figure out what our next topic will be after this. As always, come with an open mind, and an open heart.

Growing up UU: a discussion with our kids!

For today's program, the spotlight will be on our kids. We'll ask them questions about what it's like for them to grow up Unitarian Universalist, how they respond to questions about their religion and spirituality, and what they think within a predominantly Christian culture. In turn, they can ask us old folks similar questions and perhaps gain a new perspective on their self-identification as UUs.

BYOT: Building Your Own Theology

We invite you (and those you know) to join us this Sunday for another discussion.

Our topic to consider and discuss this week will be based a bit on the program for today on seeking transcendence. What do we seek for or get out of our spirituality? Are our lives made more whole by exploring myths and mysteries, and by seeking some non-corporeal part of our existence?

We'll share our thoughts, and figure out what our next topic will be after this. As always, come with an open mind, and an open heart.

TED Talk: Religion, evolution, and the ecstasy of self-transcendence

Join us for a replaying of a 2012 TED Talk from Jonathan Haidt, titled "Religion, evolution, and the ecstasy of self-transcendence."

Psychologist Jonathan Haidt asks a simple, but difficult question: why do we search for self-transcendence? Why do we attempt to lose ourselves? In a tour through the science of evolution by group selection, he proposes a provocative answer.

Lake Fellowship member, Chris Hall will introduce the video and offer some discussion points after the 18 minute video.

BYOT: Building Your Own Theology

We invite you (and those you know) to join us this Sunday for another discussion.

Our topic to consider and discuss this week will be the life and acts of Jesus. What do we know of this man, and how has life possibly influenced our own?

We'll share our thoughts, and figure out what our next topic will be after this. As always, come with an open mind, and an open heart.
