Water Ceremony & Welcome

As has been our tradition for a decade, we will start our new season of programs with a Water Ceremony. The Water Ceremony is a great way to reconvene after summer break. For those who may not be familiar with this annual tradition, members and friends bring to the service a small amount of water that represents something of significance for them.  One by one the water is poured into a larger bowl. Finding Balance: Growing Roots & Branching Out

April's theme is Balance. Throughout this month, we'll explore what balance is, how to achieve it, and why sometimes it's not worth seeking.

For today's program, we'll use our new vocabulary to stretch and test our definitions of and biases about balance. Lead by Marnie Karger, this program will include thought-provoking questions for discussion, and an invitation to dig deep into how balance exists in your own life.

Copies of the optional homework/worksheets are attached.

Finding Balance: Looking back

April's theme is balance. And for today's program, we'll consider how our current definitions of Unitarian Universalism balance (or don't balance) with the greater history of this religion. Lake Fellowship member Tim McGlynn will condense this complex and intricate history into an unpretentious timeline of the fundamental events that bring us to today, complete with hand drawn cartoons and colorful commentary.
