National ICE Out of MN Action at Target
|
|
|
Dear Tim ,
On Wednesday, Feb 11th, Indivisible Twin Cities members will participate in the national ICE Out of MN Action, sitting in at several local Target stores. Other individuals and groups around the country will sit in at their local Targets.
We are demanding that Target take a firm stand with Minnesotans against ICE attacks and pressure the administration to end the occupation here and nationwide. We still have more than 2,000 ICE and Border Patrol agents terrorizing communities around Minnesota. Our state is enduring the biggest immigration enforcement sweep in U.S. history.
|
|
|
|
Why are we targeting Target? It is Minnesota’s leading corporate citizen and the state’s third leading employer, whose familiar name and bullseye logo adorn sports uniforms and stadiums. Founded here, Target was known as the hometown store, a supporter of schools and nonprofits.
Indivisible Twin Cities is adopting the Target on the east side of St. Paul and we encourage you to attend our action! Sign up here. We are also looking for people who can attend the action at Target and lead the group in song! If this describes you or someone you know, please send an email to info@indivisibletwincities.org
If you can't attend the St. Paul action, find one at a Target location convenient for you.

Support Reforming DHS funding to Constrain ICE and CBP
Temporary funding for the Department of Homeland Security expires Friday, February 13, providing an opportunity to constrain ICE and CBP. Democratic Congressional leadership prepared a list of demands, including requiring judicial warrants, no masks, stopping racial profiling, and providing no additional funds for ICE and CBP. The full list of demands is here.
Contact Senators Klobuchar and Smith and your Congressional representative to demand that they vote “no” on any short-term or long-term funding for DHS unless it includes ALL constraints, does not provide any additional funds for ICE and CBP, and removes all ICE agents from Minnesota.
Tell them a story about how this occupation has affected you personally—about a neighbor who was abducted, about your school-age children being scared to go to school or wondering where their friends are, about your witnessing an abduction or tear gas used on Constitutional Observers. You can use democracy.io to send an email to all three. Or find your reps here.
Encourage St. Paul City Council to Defend Constitution
St. Paul City Council considers our ITC and Common Cause Minnesota “Resolution Defending the Constitution and the Rule of Law” at 3:30 on Wednesday, February 11. Meetings are held in the City/County building at 15 Kellogg Blvd W, St. Paul, on the 3rd floor. If you live in St. Paul, write your council member and support the Constitution at the meeting. Find your council person here.
Gary Fifield has been leading this effort, and he has garnered the support of several council members and Common Cause. Background information is here. And here is the draft resolution ...
Tell the Guardian your stories ...
of what it is like to live in Minnesota. We are at the center of a firestorm and we need to let the world know what is happening here.
Support Minnesota Restaurants Harmed by ICE
The Salt Cure Restaurant Recovery Fund, a collective of local food advocates and industry professionals, is raising funds for restaurants statewide. To support, visit The Salt Cure Fund. The Whittier Alliance is also raising funds for shops and businesses on Eat Street, the popular corridor where Alex Pretti was killed. The Lake Street Council offers help to businesses and nonprofits along one of the city’s most targeted by ICE.

ITC endorses Peggy Flanagan for U.S. Senate
Last week, Indivisible Twin Cities made our first endorsement for the 2026 primaries and general election, choosing Peggy Flanagan for U.S. Senate. Our endorsement came after two town hall meetings with the DFL candidates, and after receiving overwhelming support from ITC leaders and volunteers. The Minnesota Indivisible Alliance, which connects 80 Indivisible chapters statewide, also endorsed Flanagan. We will continue endorsing candidates to highlight our support for democracy defenders and visionaries in this critical election year.

One month after Renee Good’s murder, people streamed into Powderhorn Park to celebrate her life. Organized by the First Peoples of Mni Sóta Makoce, the NDN Collective and other Twin Cities groups, the memorial, Wokiksuye – In Remembrance & Witness, gave people the chance to mourn in community, surrounded and held, as one indigenous speaker said, “by people whose ceremonies survived violence and struggle. Now, we are together.” Arvol Looking Horse, the 19th keeper of Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe and Bundle, led the memorial ceremony, honoring Good and all those who have been killed by ICE nationwide during this occupation.
During the ceremony, the crowd stood mostly silent, phones away as requested, listening and absorbing the healing prayers, drummers and jingle dancers. Later, Rabbi Arielle Lekach-Rosenberg read a statement from Becca Good, which began,”Minneapolis has shown me that even in the middle of grief and fear, people still show up for each other.”
Saturday in the park, people showed up, standing hours on a snowy soccer field, listening to indigenous speakers, drummers and jingle dancers, singing along with the rabbi to Blessed Motion:”
“I believed in solid ground Until I saw the Earth in motion In the winds of steady change And in the ever-rolling ocean”
Standing in community, amid giant Heart of the Beast puppets and friendly puffy frogs, people in sturdy parkas and those dressed, as the Good family requested, in sparkles, glitter and glam, people stood outside, for hours. We didn't carry signs, we didn’t march. We didn't chant. We didn’t curse ICE. We stood still, to honor a woman who sparkled in life and whose light will continue to shine.
By mid-afternoon, near the program’s end, another indigenous speaker reminded the thinning crowd, that long after the time of pain and occupation ends, the people will remain– not only the Native people, but all of us, we the people in community.
