On Saturday, November 15, Lake Fellowship will host a discussion of Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and Their Families, last year’s UU Common Read. We will gather from 10:00 to 11:30 am to share reflections, questions, and conversation.
This three-session course offers an introduction to gender diversity and trans identity and equips you to respond to the current political attack on trans people. We will meet online on September 30, October 7, and October 14, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Many LFUU members and friends showed up to protect our democracy at No Kings events on Saturday, June 14! They did so despite being in shock and grief over the murder of the Hortmans and shootings of the HoƯmans and being asked by authorities not to because of safety concerns since the killer was still at large. Many more weren’t able or chose not to attend but were there in heart and spirit.
On the June 16 nationwide No Kings debrief on Zoom, they reported that well over 5 million people showed up at over 2,100 No Kings events in all 50 states and many other countries!
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is condemning the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision (PDF, 118 pages) in the United States v. Skrmetti case that will harm the rights of transgender youth to receive gender affirming care in this country.

Content includes trans 101, vital information to counter rampant anti-trans propaganda, and concrete actions that are needed in order for UU congregations to be spaces of safety and belonging to trans people and our families in this moment. We’ll also be discussing what you and your congregation can do to support trans refugee work in Minnesota.
On Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, actions will take place all across the country during Donald Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C. People will come together instead to center the story of America and lift up the pro-democracy and pro-worker movements.

The Gun Violence Prevention Team at Unity Church–Unitarian in St. Paul invites Minnesota UUs to work together for realistic changes to our state’s gun laws. Gun violence is now the leading cause of death among children, and many in our communities have been personally affected.
Their team meets via Zoom and welcomes new participants from across Minnesota. Whether by contacting legislators, sharing personal stories, or showing up at the Capitol, we know our voices are stronger together.
Nico Van Ostrand (they/them) offers confidential, spiritually grounded pastoral/spiritual care sessions to help hold anything in your life that is connected to your social justice work. Topics may include climate grief, navigating the news, direct impacts of new laws, but also family and parenting concerns, diagnoses, spiritual disconnect, and more. This is a spiritual support as you live your UU values in the world.
