Unitarian Universalism promotes itself as a religious tradition where everyone is welcome and diversity of belief is assumed.  This has created a safe home for many on their spiritual paths.  But it can also create some uncertainty when we try to come together in community.  How welcome are my beliefs?  How open can I be about my Christian faith? my atheism? my Buddhism?  And if I decide to label myself, then will I forever be limited to that label?

In 1930, two brave young men paddled from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay and documented their odyssey in the book Canoeing With the Cree. For the 75th anniversary of this historic adventure, two men canoed the same route in 2005, followed by two other men in 2008. Ann Raiho and Natalie Warren became the first two women to canoe this route.

WeCAN Executive Director Leah Weycker will join us today to share a short video and talk about the unique needs of services for people in Western Hennepin County. WeCAN is the Western Communities Action Network, a non-profit organization that provides Meals on Wheels, family support, and emergency assistance to prevent homelessness.
For this Sundry Sunday, we invite you to bring and donate non-food supplies such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, razors etc.

Lake Fellowship member Karen Wendt (MA, RN, PHN) is the program director for the child/adolescent acute psychiatric inpatient service for ages 5-18  at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She has been a psychiatric nurse for the past 27 years, working in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Our speaker today is Ward Bauman, and his program is titled, "Human Evolvement: a Christian Perspective".
Jesus' message was one of human transformation, but it is often obscured by pietistic language. We will explore what some early Christians, at least, saw and taught, as insight into our own human condition.

As UUs, we affirm the importance of a religious community as one of our core beliefs. For today's program, please join us as we share anecdotes and discuss more deeply the many facets of this belief. Through small and large group activties, member Marnie Karger will lead our journey through this topic.

High School Senior, Elliot Moormann has always wanted to be a doctor, and this summer he'll have a unique opportunity to shadow doctors in Switzerland and Kenya. Upon his return to the US, Elliot will share with us the photos and stories about what he saw, who he worked with, and what's happening in the field of Global Health Medicine.
