LFUU Members and Friends,

This Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day coincides with the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Let that sink in for a moment . . . or two . . . or even three . . .

Are you wanting a way to acknowledge and/or act at this defining moment? Here are a few options:

  • Join us at the People’s March on Saturday! LFUU members and friends are marching for justice, equity, and compassion. We’re meeting in the Ridgedale area to carpool. Click here for more information. If you want to join us, send an email ASAP to info@lakefellowship.org.
  • Come to our program on Sunday. Marnie will explore this month’s theme of The Practice of Story and share how change can happen through powerful narrative. Learn more below.
  • View an Interfaith Service and Moral Mass Meeting on Monday. Last week at our Mid-America Region Small Congregation Check-in, we learned that a coalition of interfaith partners, including the UUA, are hosting For Such a Time As This: a MLK Day event to uplift prophetic message for the current moment live in Memphis and streaming nationwide on Monday from 6pm to 9pm CT. As we step into what it means to have new leadership in the United States, we’re also stepping into what it means to continue the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., to continue to say that all are created equal, to continue to lend our voice to not being silent, to continue to hold space for understanding the interconnectedness of us as people. This event is about casting vision, it’s about lending voice, and it’s definitely about not becoming silent in the face of fear.

How might you lend your voice at this moment? What are you called to do?
