Please join us as we look back through Lake Fellowship's history by reviewing some of the highlights and treasures in our archives. Lake Fellowship member Sharon Dana will walk us through some of what she has found when going through old photos, documents, and letters from the early days of Lake Fellowship up to the present.
Obviously, the past 1-1/2 years was a turbulent time: the pandemic, George Floyd’s murder, and the election, and all of the changes, divisiveness, and unrest related to each. As a result, many of us experienced changes in our relationships.
This program will kick off October's theme of Cultivating Relationship. Lake Fellowship member Marnie Karger will lead this interactive, discussion-based program. To best prepare for this program, Marnie asks us all to consider the following questions ahead of time:
Embracing Possibility challenges us to accept uncertainty and unpredictability. This program will dive deep into this challenge by examining Chaos Theory and how it relates to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
From Andy:
Phil Lund will be speaking about Cultivating Relationship. From Phil: A continued decline of church membership in future decades seems inevitable, according to recent surveys of religion in America. What does that mean for those of us who enjoy the important social benefits that belonging to a religious community provides? How do we manage the tension between hope and realism when it comes to the future of our faith? Let us explore what we, as Unitarian Universalists, can do for religion today...and tomorrow.
Our speaker for this program is Shelia Huggins, a North Carolina attorney who grew up in a family of community and public servants. She currently resides in the fourth largest city in North Carolina, which is also one of the most ethnically diverse in the state and a community that leans more liberal than conservative.
For this program, Lake Fellowship member Marnie Karger will lead us in an exploration of September's theme, "Embracing Possibility." In addition to readings, quotes, and questions related to the theme, Marnie will also give us a brief history of Possibilianism, and what the status this new "religion" is today.
As has been our tradition for more than a decade, we will start our new season of programs with a Water Ceremony. The Water Ceremony is a great way to reconvene after summer break. For those who may not be familiar with this annual tradition, members and friends bring to the service a small amount of water that represents something of significance for them. One by one the water is poured into a larger bowl. This is more than a “what I did this summer” report, and represents a re-gathering of our community.
Join us, IN PERSON for our final program of the 2020 - 2021 program year! This year's final program will be a BYOE (Bring Your Own Everything) at Badger Park in Shorewood starting at 10:30. We typically have a talent show and BBQ at the A-Frame for this annual event, but with Covid, we've had to adjust these past couple of years. This year's program is going to be more of a social event for all of us to reconnect and see each other in-person before the Summer break. Anyone wishing to show off a talent is totally welcome to. Talents are optional....
